At the beginning of each season, we offer 2–3 weeks of open rehearsals for anyone interested in joining the choir. This is a chance to come to a rehearsal, meet the choir, experience how we rehearse, and see if we’re a good fit for you. There’s no commitment required during the open rehearsal period.

We are a community of 60–70 adult singers who rehearse every Tuesday from 7:30–9:30 PM in the Banquet Hall at Woodroffe United Church. Rehearsals begin with a proper vocal warm-up, followed by rehearsal of our repertoire.

After the open rehearsals, auditions are held in the following week. The audition is simply an opportunity for us to determine your voice placement and make sure you’re ready for the choir.

• You will be asked to sing a scale and complete a simple aural test.
• You may be asked to sing a few lines from a favourite song or piece of music, simply to get a sense of your musicality. No pressure! If you don’t have anything prepared, you can always sing the national anthem.
• You don’t need to be an experienced choir singer or a strong music reader to join us. We welcome singers with a variety of backgrounds and experience.

There is a membership fee to join the choir. These fees help cover the costs of maintaining the choir, including rehearsal space, music, our choir director, accompanist, and other operating expenses. Your membership fees help make it possible for us to continue providing a great choral experience for everyone.
